Space-Age TV Culture In The United Arab Emirates

Jaime Puebla took these fabulous photos of television programs produced in the United Arab Emirates. He tells us:

“I had access to TV channels in the emirates of Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah.

“I was drawn to this subject because of the stark contrast present between the futuristic design of the television studios and the traditional, conservative clothing worn by the TV presenters. I also wanted to show a key part of popular culture where conservative and contemporary aesthetics coexist. This reflects the region’s need to maintain identity and traditions while also trying to engage with worldwide mass culture. “
