Scary Monsters, Robots, and Apes Carrying-Off Women

‘Frankenstein Meets The Wolfman’ (1943).

According to a recent survey I’ve just made up, 90% of males like horror movies because it makes them feel protective towards their partners. I figure this is more than probably true, because as Doctor Lovecraft of the Innsmouth University once stated horror is often about reinforcing gender roles.

Which no doubt explains why so many horror movies since nineteen-umpteen have attractive young women carried-off by werewolves, vampires, apes and what-have-you.

It is understandable this fear of having a loved one being abducted by some Universal Monster causes individuals to feel protective towards their partner especially in the most grim and horrific storylines as exemplified by the following.
