The Life Picture Cookbook 1958 – Some of it is quite beautiful…. – was Life magazine’s response to the wildly popular Betty Crocker Picture Cookbook (1950). And it was bigger than Betty’s ring-bound home help – 14-inches tall – and more lavishly illustrated. If Betty was all about tips and domestic bliss, the Life Picture Cookbook was about aspiration and extravagance. Now, who fancies the flaming lettuce?
