Shade Rupe is a writer, filmmaker and actor. He has written for various film and culture magazines. A collection of his interviews, with the likes of Udo Kier, Divine, Alejandro Jodorowsky and Tura Satana, was published in the volume Dark Stars Rising: Conversations from the Outer Realm. He has also edited two volumes of dark fictions and art Funeral Party I & II subtitled “A Celebratory Excursion into Beautiful Extremes of Life, Lust & Death.”
As a background actor Rupe has made appearances in films like The Irishman, John Wick, and The Commuter. Rupe also hosted and produced film festivals, screenings and movie events including Ken Russell‘s tour of America in 2010.
Since the 1980s, Rupe has also documented his various meetings with actors, directors and musicians from David Lynch to Glenda Jackson via Charlotte Rampling and Robert Plant. This is the kind of personal memorabilia which could make for a coffee table book accompanied by Rupe’s tales of his adventures in filmland
While we wait for that far-off possibility, here is a selection of Shade Rupe with the great and the good.
