The Muppets Show took its theme song from 1960s Italian fantasy porn

THE Muppets Show took its theme tune from the 1968 Italian film Svezia, Inferno e Paradiso (Sweden: Heaven and Hell). Some countries are deemed to be all about sex: Sweden is one of them. Mah Na Mah Na was the work of Italian composer Piero Umilianiand (pictured above). He called it Viva la Sauna Svedese.

In 1969, it reached number 55 on the American Billboard singles chart. Jim Henson heard it. In that same year, it featured on Sesame Street:

In 1976, The Muppets Show begins. The song is sung by the Snowths.
