In September 1980, a year or so after he released his single Head Over Heels in Love, England and Southampton FC footballer Kevin Keegan unleashed his Harry Fenton fashion range on the unsuspecting British public. The “Kevin Keegan Collection at Harry Fenton” – was a menswear range that ran from slacks and jumpers to three-piece pinstriped suits. The footballer’s name didn’t help an already failing menswear chain once famous for its sixties mod ‘clobber’ and three or four years later Harry Fenton was sold to Burton’s.

Keegan’s career in the 1980s epitomised the modern footballer/businessman. Other than Harry Fenton Keegan signed contracts to promote Faberge Toiletries, Mitre Sports Goods, Patrick UK Boots, Nabisco Shredded Wheat and Heinz Baked Beans.
