“My life’s journey has been an odyssey through time and space, filled with vivid moments, abundant with color, dazzling with sights, and vibrant with euphonic sounds.”
– Peter Max on his website
Peter Max’s Astrologicalendar for 1971 was published by Grosset & Dunlap in 1970. Max (born Peter Max Finkelstein, October 19, 1937) has a keen interest in astronomy and astrology (he named his daughter Libra Astro Max), evidence in this calendar featuring a design for each signs of the zodiac and a few words on traits linked to each.
You can sense the cosmic energy flow through Max’s art.
These images were scanned by David Day of Jive Time records in Seattle. He’s a graphic designer and ephemera collector in whose favourite pastime is rummaging through second-hand shops for books and printed paper artefacts from the psychedelic era. Check out his collection – it’s terrific.
