Faces and fashions from Paris 1969

In 1969, Pari U.S. representative Henry Kissinger and North Vietnamese representative Xuan Thuy began secret peace negotiations. No agreement was reached. Newlyweds John Lennon and Yoko Ono arrived with fanfare. Andre Courreges showcased the alopecia Yeti jumpsuit; Paco Rabanne peered into fashion’s future with his Les Enfants 2000 range; male model Jean-Luc launched a thousand parodies; Serge Gainsbourg undressed Jane Birkin; and The Duchess of Windsor, Wallis Simpson, petted one of her pug dogs as her husband, the Duke of Windsor, Prince Edward, looked on. Heady times. But not for everyone…
