circa 1920: British politician Andrew Bonar Law inspecting a troop of boys at the Victoria Club in Kew. Bonar Law worked in a Glasgow iron yard before beginning his political career as a Unionist MP. He succeeded Lord Balfour as Unionist leader in the House of Commons (1911) and served as a member of the War Cabinet, Chancellor of the Exchequer and Lord Privy Seal before becoming the leader of the House of Commons.
