Dustin Hoffman’s Makeup Continuity Polaroids From ‘Who Is Harry Kellerman?’

These Dustin Hoffman pictures are makeup continuity shots from the 1971 film Who Is Harry Kellerman and Why Is He Saying Those Terrible Things About Me?. The make-up is the work of the great Dick Smith (June 26, 1922 – July 30, 2014; he won a 1985 Oscar for Best Makeup and Hairstyling for his work on Amadeus.) He’s standing behind Dustin holding the backdrop. You can see his very distinctive hand that had only three-fingers.

Writes Steve Bannos, “I’ve owned these shots for over ten years and never realized Dick Smith was in them. I’m a massive fan of his since the late 60s when I was a wee lad, so imagine my delight. The first thing I noticed was the fingers, then holy shit, the glasses, then holy shit of course he would be doing makeup on this film. That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.”
