LONDON was not always throbbing with City cash, oil money and Russian oligarch grease. Celebrity colonialists looking for a cause in Africa need only to look back 100 years to see images of grinding poverty in London, beacon of empire. Wandsworth museum is staging a fantastic exhibition of photographs from 1857 to 1965:
