Let’s take a look at found photos of old married couples. And we mean ‘old now’ not so much ‘old then’, because love was the air when the shutter clicked, and in the mid-Century divorce was evidence of moral failure, reserved for spouse beaters, cheaters and fighters. Most likely, these people, if they married, stayed together. Sure, things have changed. The couples here are woman and man. We’ve no issue with gay sex, gay adoptions and consenting adults entering unions founded on love. If you’ve a problem with the fact that people of the same sex can be attracted to one another, remain calm. Breathe. Why is it on your agenda? Why are you so troubled? Put down the heckles and weaponry. Back then, you know, it was different. So here are the picture of love among old married couples – not all old, not all married. We know. We’ve seen no certificates and pictures of ceremonies are scarce. We just like to believe they are. As ever, don’t try to see a story – just imagine one.
