Edward Bawden Illustrations For Ambrose Heath Book Covers

Bawden's charming and seductive cookbook jacket designs

Edward Bawden (1903-89) was the English artist noted for his murals at London Underground stations, designs for Fortnum & Mason and Twinings, gorgeous linocuts of Aesop’s Fables characters, work as an official war artist (1940 -1945), watercolours, adverts for Shell oil, the BBC Year Book, and idiosyncratic illustrations and book cover designs, notably for journalist and food writer Ambrose Heath’s (nee Francis Gerald Miller; 1891-1969) Good Food series (1930s), which we can see here.
