In 1976 Elizabeth Taylor was in Iran, courtesy of Iran Air. Photographer Firooz Zahedi was also there to record the great movie star’s visit. Zahedi, who had left Iran as a child, toured the country with Taylor, taking in the sights of Persepolis (“where the Tent City erected in 1971 for the 2,500 year celebration of the Persian Empire was still standing”), Shiraz and Isfahan. His photographs are superb.
“I didn’t have to do anything,” Zahedi once said. “She took over, created the poses, and I just clicked the camera.”
