I think this is my contemporarily cousin, Diane Polhemus (my father's brother's eldest daughter) , Neptune City, New Jersey, USA - Easter, 1948. Diane's father Doug ran the gas station on the corner of Corlies Ave and South Main Street. My father Charles Polhemus had pulled out of being the co-owner of a corner shop in Neptune City on the grounds that his partner insisted they stay open on Sundays. And he never approved of the fact that his brother was always open on Sundays - but there were other, deeper, undercurrents of bad feeling between them: my father always said his brother over-charged him if he went there to have his car fixed. But Doug has a great, classic Coke machine and, on the walls of his office, calendars featuring pics of sexy girls.
