
The international premiere of Paramount's "War And Peace" a Vistavision-Technicolor film version of the novel by Leo Tolstoy, has its premiere at New York's Capitol Theater on August 21, 1956. Guest of honour at the premiere was Miss Alexandra Tolstoy, sole surviving offspring of the renowned author. The film has a cast of 18,000, topped by Audrey Hepburn, Henry Fonda, Mel Ferrer, Vittorio Gassman, Anita Ekberg and John Mills. The Ponti-De Laurentiis production was directed by King Vidor and produced by Dino De Laurentiis. Most of the filming was at Rome, Italy. Photo shows: Countess Alexandra L.
