Displaying the FA Cup to the wildly cheering crowds, the Liverpool FC players are seen on their triumphal drive in an open top coach to the Town Hall from Lime Street Station for a civic reception on their return to Liverpool after beating Leeds Utd in the Cup Final at Wembley. Crowds estimated between 200,000 and 250,000 gave them a tumultuous welcome. The excited fans burst through the barriers and there were hundreds of casualties.
