Italy Tivoli Anita Ekberg and Franca Bettoja - from our story 'Kerstin Anita Marianne Ekberg: Wonderful Photos 1931 – 2015'

A scene of a new Italian film, “Apocalisse sul Fiume Giallo” (verbally: “Apocalypse on the Yellow River”), being shot in the woods at Tivoli, about 35 kilometers (22 miles) east of Rome, Italy on Sept. 24, 1959. In a military jeep sit Anita Ekberg (in right background) and Franca Bettoja, the latter holding a wounded Chinese girl, played by Chinese actress Mei-Lang-Chang. Swedish-born actress Anita Ekberg plays the main female part of an American nurse, opposite French actor Georges Marchal in the part of an American journalist, while Italian actress Franca Bettoja has the role of a Catholic nun in the film. The picture tells the story of the Nationalist Chinese forces’ desperate fight against the communist forces, of the latter’s plan to blow up the dikes of the Yellow River, of an American journalist who happens to learn about this plan and eventually saves the dike from a major disaster and thus his love with an American nurse.
