Three Rockettes walk to work for an early morning rehearsal in New York on April 5, 1966. Many of the girls share apartments to cut costs. Rockettes are recruited from among girls with dancing talent from high schools and colleges throughout the U.S. and Canada. Some of the girls come to New York from other countries to try out for the troupe.
