Salut Les Copains: Poptastic Playing Cards From 1960s

We are indebted to Patricia M. for showing us this fabulous set of playing cards from the 1960s. Made by French company Stemm, these Jeu S.L.C. Atlanta (‘Salut les Copains’) cards are a poptastic delight. Salut les Copains was the name of a radio show and spin-off magazine popular throughout the 1960s. The pack of 52 cards (plus 2 jokers and 2 scoring cards) were packaged in a plastic box. It makes me wonder if the picture cards were based on singers or other famous faces, especially people immersed in the yé-yé style – music based on the English term “yeah! yeah!”, popularized by British beat music bands such as the Beatles.

Anyone know?
