We’re taking a detour from London, as Peter Marshall heads to Hull, a port city in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. “These are colour photographs I took in and around Hull in the 1970s and 1980s,” says Peter. “I was mainly taking pictures in black and white for my project ‘Still Occupied – A View of Hull’ which was shown at the Ferens Art Gallery in 1983, but also made some colour transparencies… Black and white photographs of Hull I also made in the 1970s and 1980s. I don’t know the exact year in which I took some of these pictures but all were in this period.

“Almost all these images were taken as colour slides, and some have deteriorated over the years. I’ve tried to correct the major blemishes, but some still show dust, mould etc. I’ve tried to avoid uploading duplicate images and to pick the orginals rather than dupes I made.

“Where I can I’ll title these to give some information about where they were taken. As well as pictures of Hull there are also some taken in nearby places, including Filey, Barton-on-Humber and Goole.”
