A Visual Tour of Brassaï’s Paris – 1930s

“I don’t invent anything. I imagine everything… most of the time, I have drawn my images from the daily life around me. I think that it is by capturing reality in the humblest, most sincere, most everyday way I can, that I can penetrate to the extraordinary.”
― Brassaï, Brassai, Paris

Brassaï (aka Gyula Halász: born in Brassó, Hungary (now Brașov, Romania) – 1899-1984) photographed what he saw in 1930s Paris. He captured the high life and the low, showing us the ballet, opera, brothels and high society.
