Listen To This 1972 Tribute To Norwich City: When White People Called Reggae ‘Calypso’

ORIGINALLY released on 7″ vinyl in 1972, what we have hear is a cracking little pop ditty about Norwich City by a band by the name of The Chic Applin Sound from back when white people called reggae “calypso”.

Give it a listen, it’s a bloody belter…

Fun fact: Despite being a far superior tune, “Norwich City Calypso” is actually the B-side to “The Canaries (In Song)” which was essentially the Norwich City team singing about themselves while backed by The Chic Applin Sound.

Calypso is not what “white people used to call reggae” but an established traditional musical genre from Trinidad and Tobago. I find your title both uninformed and insulting.
