Fumetti covers: lurid masterpieces of comic book art

FUMETTI means “puff of smoke” in Italian. The puffs are the speech bubbles. But whose listening to the talking when the graphic action is so lurid, criminal, depraved and decadent? And looking at the covers make you want to peek inside, even if it is only for research purposes or to damn them and have them banned. These cover have shades of Norman Saunders’s battle cards and Mexico’s epic fotonovelas. Some of the covers in this gallery are erotic. So it’s not entirely SFW.
