Blue Jeans magazine and naming those 1980s heartthrobs

Share this:

BLUE Jeans magazine was great. There photo casebooks were how a generation learnt about sexual relations and how to match two types of denim (tip: tuck your jumper in). On the back of each issue was a heartthrob, like John Taylor of Duran Duran, Bono, Howard Jones, Dr Robert, Jim Kerr, Lloyd Cole, Paul King, Michael Praed and, erm, Nick Sexton…

Lloyd Cole? Paul King as in King, ‘Love And Pride’ King? I read an unwanted one as a teenager. It was all gunky peach lipgloss and posters of Corey Haim.

  • i use to read blue jeans magazine till the age of 12 years, i was a young 12year old and played with all the 9 year old children but i still felt grown up enough to read blue jean magazine after all it was a childrens magazine one day i bought it as it had a free book with the magazine i loved this as i always like buy one get one free i couldnt wait to get home to read the book i sat on the bed really excited take into account i was innocent never had a boyfriend, never kissed anyone and knew nothing in fact i could have even been younger. i started to read the book a story about two lads going on an adventure, which turned out to be a sick story about one doing drugs with a load of older men while the other lad refuses to join in but instead watches through the window he sees his friend being raped of loads of different men, my mind couldnt take it i through the book oover the bed and onto the floor all the time my mind was in shock and unable to take this information in i was a child an innocent child i picked up the book off the floor and run downstairs put it in the bin and never bought blue jeans again it was an horrible experience and prayed on my mind for ages and every time i think of your magazine i think of the magazine who tried to corrupt an innocent childs mind how sad.
